Atherosclerosis is a medical disorder characterized by process of hardening of the arteries. The arteries become hard and non flexible as a result of high levels of bad cholesterol which makes impossible normal blood flow. The arteries are getting clogged, thus preventing the easy flow of blood to the heart and other parts of the body. Damaged arteries contributed to the development of ED problem in men due to the poor blood supply of the penis. Cholesterol blocks up the arteries leading to the genitals resulting in the difficulty, or inability, to attain an erection.

Artherosclerosis limits the supply of blood to the nerves responsible for sexual arousal and to the penis and a man cannot get and maintain an erection.

If erectile dysfunction in a man results from the clogged-up, damaged blood vessels of atherosclerosis, the man is most likely to have high levels of cholesterol and high blood pressure, obesity.  Smoking and no physical exercises also contribute to the developing of impotence.

A low fat diet and more physical exercises in the open air help to reduce risk factors for appearing of atherosclerosis and ED. A healthy lifestyle without nicotine and alcohol will bring benefits to the general health and  help reverse the problems.
